Genital Warts and Herpes: Differences, Similarities And Treatments

What are herpes and genital warts? Most people think that they are the same thing. However these are two very different diseases and if you think you have with one, you should know that genital herpes treatment is different from genital warts treatment. Here are some of the reasons why people think that genital warts and genital herpes are the same:

They are both incurable but treatable.

The difference between treatment and cure is that one is temporary while the other has a lasting effect. Now, the problem with these two diseases is that there is no proven cure for either of them as yet. The most you can do is to continuously do herpes and genital warts treatment so that your life will be bearable at the very least. While you may be able to get rid of the physical manifestation, there’s a good chance that the virus infection is still in the cells of your body.

They are both transmitted through sexual contact: Pregnant women can pass on their disease to their child. Aside from the complications it can bring to the birthing, both genital herpes and genital warts can be acquired close contact of an infected person.

More often these diseases are transferred through intimate sexual contact but there are other ways of passing it on to others. Pregnant women can transfer the diseases to their babies and it can also complicate the birthing process.

While genital warts and genital herpes may have similarities, they also have a lot of differences. Here are a few of them:

They are caused by 2 different viruses: A virus called the human papilloma will give you genital warts and getting infected by the herpes simplex virus will give you herpes. These two viruses do not cancel each other out so it is possible to have these two diseases at the same time.

When that happens, it just so happens that you are twice as unfortunate. In this case, it is best to get a medical professional to evaluate your case and give you genital warts treatment advice.

Regardless of the different manifestations, these diseases should definitely be treated immediately. After all, these are both very serious skin diseases that can cause you both social and physical pain. Moreover, if they are left untreated, they can develop into much worse.

Genital warts do not really hurt but genital herpes do. The sore that get developed in herpes are really very painful to live with. Even if genital warts do not hurt, they should both be treated immediately, especially before they develop into worse manifestations.

On the other hand, genital herpes does not require the same medical attention because they will ripen and burst naturally. During the outbreaks, however, the sores may be painful and medication may be acquired to minimize the pain.

Thankfully, herpes and genital warts are both preventable. Don’t worry about contracting the virus.
